Angling Ireland is being established to act as a home for Sea Angling Ireland, the most active community space in Ireland for anglers. The plan to is replicate the success with the community managed Sea Angling space in the areas of Pike Game and Coarse angling as well.

Pike Angling Ireland has only just been launched and is short of content. Whilst working on this and trying to source content, the idea of a wiki emerged... Wikis allow all registered members of these sites to contribute directly to their website.

The community bulletin boards on Sea Angling Ireland and Pike Angling Ireland are both moderated by volunteers. This team represents all four provinces on the island. The well established SAI website is governed by a website steering committe drawn from the registered members and again this is representative of the island as a whole, with one seat reserved for our dinghy / boat anglers.

It is also home to the Sea Angling Ireland SAC, Ireland's only internet based sea angling club, an IFSA affiliated and big club. This club runs competitions and meets on an all Ireland basis.

To further encourage and deepen the sense of community and build more participation into these sites - and to be honest in an effort to try to reduce the administative load on John and Kieran - the wiki is being trialled to give all the registered members the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and expertise and opinions (!) and collect all this information into a single peer reviewed space.

It is likely that the WIKI would only be open to registered members of the sites, which means that anyone found abusing the wiki (the most common problem with them) could have their membership suspended or ultimately revoked. In this way the worse excesses on some wikis - where total cr*p is posted - would be avoided from the outset.

As of April 26th, the wiki has moved to a new production database. We would encourage people to test this and report back on the WIKI thread on the sea angling ireland forums.
